Collection: Computer and Video Games Magazine
Computer and Video Games (CVG) Magazine was a British publication that focused on video game news, reviews, and industry coverage. First published in November 1981 by EMAP, it was one of the earliest dedicated gaming magazines in the world. CVG covered a wide range of platforms over the years, from early home computers like the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 to later consoles such as the PlayStation and Xbox.
The magazine became known for its in-depth reviews, previews of upcoming games, and engaging features that appealed to both casual and hardcore gamers. It also had a strong presence in the arcade gaming scene during the 1980s and 1990s, when coin-operated games were at their peak.
As the internet grew in popularity, CVG transitioned to a digital format, with its website continuing the magazine’s legacy of gaming journalism. However, in 2014, CVG ceased publication entirely, with its website shutting down the following year. Despite its closure, CVG remains an important part of gaming history, having influenced generations of gamers and gaming journalists.
