At the height of its popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Max Power was closely associated with the “boy racer” subculture, covering everything from souped-up hatchbacks to flashy body kits and bold, often controversial, designs. It also became known for its blend of motorsports content and lifestyle features, which often included photo spreads of models, creating a distinctive, edgy vibe.

The magazine's popularity eventually declined, in part due to changes in the modified car scene and the rise of online car culture communities. Max Power ceased publication in 2011 after nearly two decades of influence on UK car enthusiasts.
