Collection: New Music Express Magazine
New Musical Express (NME) was a British music magazine founded in 1952. It became one of the most influential music publications in the UK, covering rock, punk, indie, and alternative music for decades. NME was known for its bold journalism, album and concert reviews, artist interviews, and its famous weekly UK Singles and Albums Chart, which it helped pioneer.
During the 1960s and 1970s, NME played a major role in covering bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. In the late 1970s and 1980s, it became a key voice in the punk and new wave movements, featuring artists like The Sex Pistols, The Clash, and The Smiths. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, it championed Britpop bands like Oasis and Blur, as well as emerging indie acts.
As print magazine sales declined, NME ceased its print edition in 2018, shifting entirely to a digital platform. Today, it continues as an online publication, providing music news, reviews, and interviews while maintaining its legacy as one of the most important music journalism brands in history.
