Original Classic Rock magazine – September 2004, with a striking Phil Lynott / Thin Lizzy cover and a strong selection of classic rock features throughout the issue.

The front cover is dominated by a close-up photograph of Phil Lynott, accompanied by the large Thin Lizzy logo and the headline “The Rocker Remembered…”. The main cover feature looks back at Lynott and the turbulent period surrounding classic Thin Lizzy albums including Fighting and Jailbreak, making this a particularly appealing issue for Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott collectors.

The issue also advertises a substantial Black Sabbath feature described as a definitive buyer’s guide, covering the wider Sabbath catalogue rather than focusing solely on Ozzy Osbourne.

Other prominent music content advertised on the cover includes Metallica, with a feature connected to the band’s Some Kind of Monster era, together with discussion of the changing music industry and the continued appeal of vinyl records.

Across the very top of the cover are further features on Velvet Revolver, including Slash, The Quireboys, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. The cover also promotes the results of a readers’ poll covering the 50 Greatest Live Albums Ever, giving the issue additional interest for collectors of classic rock retrospectives and album guides.

This is very much a classic-rock history and collector-focused issue, combining Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Velvet Revolver and progressive/classic rock coverage from the mid-2000s.

The front cover also advertises a FREE CD exclusive to WHSmith customers. No CD is visible in the supplied photograph, so the listing should be treated as being for the magazine itself only unless the disc is separately confirmed.

Condition

Pre-owned vintage magazine with visible storage and handling wear.

The front cover remains complete, colourful and highly presentable overall, with the Phil Lynott image and major headlines still displaying strongly.

There is visible surface rubbing and scratching, particularly across the darker black areas of the cover where marks show more clearly. Some lighter scuffs and handling lines are also visible across the central and lower portions.

The spine/left edge shows rubbing and light wear, with minor creasing consistent with the magazine having been read and stored. There is also corner and edge wear, particularly around the lower-left corner, lower edge and upper corners.

The top-right corner/edge has noticeable rubbing and discolouration, and the surrounding cover area shows further general age-related surface wear.

No major front-cover tear is obvious from the supplied image, but this is clearly a used collector's copy rather than a mint example. Please study the photograph carefully for the exact cosmetic condition.
