Original Classic Rock Magazine, Summer 2005, Issue 83, with a major Thin Lizzy / Phil Lynott cover feature.

The front cover uses a striking black-and-white photograph of Phil Lynott holding his bass guitar, with the large Thin Lizzy logo across the lower half and the headline “Live and Dangerous!”. It is a particularly attractive issue for Thin Lizzy collectors, with the main feature looking back at the band’s touring years and the musicians surrounding Lynott.

Thin Lizzy / Phil Lynott Feature

The principal cover feature centres on Thin Lizzy and includes:

  • “Live and Dangerous!”
  • A retrospective on Thin Lizzy’s touring period.
  • “Showdown! On Tour With Lizzy and Queen ’77–’79”
  • Material covering Thin Lizzy’s connection with Queen during the late 1970s touring period.
  • Contributions and recollections involving Brian Robertson, Gary Moore and Brian Downey.
  • Focus on life and touring with frontman Phil Lynott.
  • Large period image of Lynott gives the issue strong visual appeal for collectors of Thin Lizzy memorabilia.

This is a strong piece of mid-2000s classic-rock journalism looking back at one of the defining hard-rock bands of the 1970s.

Other Major Features

The cover also advertises substantial features relating to:

  • Pink Floyd – “The Road To Re-Formation”, looking at the events surrounding the band coming back together.
  • Deep Purple – coverage of the making of In Rock, one of the band’s landmark albums.
  • Soundgarden – retrospective feature on one of grunge’s heaviest and most influential bands.
  • Alice Cooper – a feature billed as “Satan Is Real!”, covering Cooper’s distinctive worldview and career.
  • Jon Anderson – the Yes frontman discussing the band’s progressive-rock roots.
  • Sex Pistols
  • Ratt
  • The Plasmatics
  • Ginger

The issue therefore crosses classic rock, hard rock, progressive rock, punk and grunge, making it an appealing collector’s copy for fans of several generations of rock music.
