Large double-sided Fast Car magazine fold-out poster featuring two individually captioned modified-car photographs: Akira Nakai’s RAUH-Welt workshop / RWB Porsche 911 on one side and Sam Afzali’s VIP Nissan 350Z on the reverse.

The small Fast Car branding and photography credits are visible in the lower corners of the poster, confirming the publication.

This is a particularly interesting modified-car poster because the two sides represent very different areas of tuning culture: one focuses on Akira Nakai and the Japanese RAUH-Welt Begriff (RWB) Porsche scene, while the reverse features a customised Nissan 350Z photographed alongside a vintage aircraft.

Side 1 – Akira Nakai’s RAUH-Welt Workshop / RWB Porsche

The first side is captioned along the bottom:

“AKIRA NAKAI’S RAUH-WELT WORKSHOP”

The photograph shows a dramatically modified Porsche 911 positioned inside the famous RWB workshop environment.

The Porsche is finished in a very dark satin/matte-looking colour and displays the exaggerated bodywork associated with RAUH-Welt Begriff / RWB styling.

Visible details include:

  • Classic Porsche 911 silhouette
  • Very wide front and rear arches
  • Extremely low stance
  • Deep-dish aftermarket wheels
  • Wide tyres
  • Extended front bumper/lip
  • Orange/red accent detailing around the lower front
  • Darkened bodywork
  • RAUH-Welt windscreen banner
  • RWB lettering on the bonnet
  • “FRONT ROW” lettering across the front bumper area
  • Japanese number plate
  • Recaro-branded seat visible through the windscreen

The car is photographed inside a highly atmospheric workshop/garage packed with RWB-related details.

Behind it are shelves, bottles, books, equipment, a television/monitor, workshop items and another vehicle. Large RWB lettering is visible on the pool/billiards table behind the Porsche, while further RAUH-Welt Begriff branding appears around the workshop.

The setting is an important part of this image: rather than simply presenting the Porsche against a neutral background, it captures the distinctive personality and visual character of Akira Nakai’s workshop.

This side is particularly relevant to collectors interested in Akira Nakai, RWB, Porsche 911 modification, Japanese tuning culture and Fast Car magazine photography.

A small Fast Car logo and photographer credit are printed in the lower-right corner.

Side 2 – Sam Afzali’s VIP 350Z

The reverse is captioned:

“SAM AFZALI’S VIP 350Z”

This side features a customised Nissan 350Z photographed on an airfield alongside a vintage twin-engine propeller aircraft.

The Nissan is finished in a very dark colour and photographed from a front three-quarter angle.

Visible car details include:

  • Nissan 350Z body shape
  • Dark paintwork
  • Low ride height
  • Large gold/bronze aftermarket wheels
  • Low-profile tyres
  • Modified bonnet/hood
  • Custom front-end styling
  • Dark windscreen with prominent graphics
  • Ontario-style front number plate reading “JDM TOY”
  • Low, show-car stance

The choice of location makes this side particularly distinctive.

Behind the Nissan is a large vintage twin-engine propeller aircraft positioned on the airfield apron. Its polished/aged metallic fuselage, twin propellers and tail arrangement create a striking backdrop to the modern Japanese sports car.

An airport control tower, hangar, other aircraft and airfield buildings are also visible in the background.

The composition contrasts the customised Nissan with classic aviation machinery and gives this side a much more open, daylight appearance than the enclosed RWB workshop scene on the reverse.

The bottom caption clearly identifies the vehicle as Sam Afzali’s VIP 350Z.

The lower-right corner carries the credit:

“photo: Steve Wharton”

alongside the Fast Car logo.

Condition

Pre-owned condition with prominent original folding, additional creasing, edge/corner wear and general handling/storage wear.

Both supplied photographs have been checked closely.

The poster has a strong vertical centre fold and several horizontal folds dividing the sheet into multiple panels. These folds are clearly visible on both sides.

RWB Porsche Side

The central vertical fold runs directly through the Porsche and workshop scene.

A prominent horizontal fold crosses approximately through the middle of the car and continues across the full width of the poster.

There is visible creasing and paper stress around the central fold intersection, including additional diagonal creases through the Porsche image.

The upper black border has some visible small creases/pressure marks, particularly towards the centre and right-hand areas.

The lower black border also shows several light creases and handling marks.

The left-hand edge shows noticeable wear, including some unevenness and small areas of edge creasing around the fold positions.

The right-hand edge also shows light handling wear and slight waviness.

There are scattered small surface marks and pressure impressions visible across the darker areas.

Nissan 350Z Side

The same fold structure is clearly visible on the 350Z side.

The vertical centre fold passes through the airfield scene and part of the aircraft, while the horizontal fold crosses the Nissan and background.

There is noticeable wrinkling and additional creasing around the central intersection, particularly through the lighter aircraft/sky areas where the paper wear is easier to see.

The pale sky shows several faint surface impressions and small creases.

The black outer border has scattered handling marks and minor creasing.

The left and right edges show some waviness, small nicks/irregularities and general storage wear.

The lower corners and border show minor softening and creasing rather than remaining perfectly sharp.

Despite the folding and wear, the printed colours remain strong. The RWB Porsche image retains its dark atmospheric workshop appearance, while the Nissan 350Z/airfield side remains clear with good contrast between the car, aircraft and pale background.

I do not see an obvious large missing section, major through-tear, handwriting or tape repair in either photograph.

Overall Condition

A complete-looking Fast Car double-sided fold-out poster with prominent original fold lines, additional central creasing, some edge and corner wear, surface handling marks and slight paper waviness.

It is not a pristine or crease-free example, but both sides remain visually strong, with the Akira Nakai RWB Porsche workshop image being particularly distinctive for Japanese tuning and Porsche collectors.

Condition assessment is based strictly on the two supplied photographs.
