Original FHM Magazine – August 2000, Issue 127, a substantial turn-of-the-millennium issue packed with celebrity photography, interviews, humour, lifestyle features, fashion, gadgets, cars and the magazine's characteristic men's lifestyle content.

This issue has a particularly strong “Bikini Heaven” theme, with the cover promoting a large summer photography feature and naming Lisa Faulkner, Jordan, Nell McAndrew, Davinia Taylor, Kate Groombridge and Ivana Horvat.

The magazine also contains a prominent feature on Aaliyah, making this an interesting issue for collectors of late-1990s/early-2000s music and celebrity magazines.

Cover & Main Feature

The front cover is dominated by two beach/swimwear photographs and the large headline:

“BIKINI HEAVEN! Are you ready for FHM’s hottest ever pictures?”

The cover specifically promotes:

  • Lisa Faulkner
  • Jordan
  • Nell McAndrew
  • Davinia Taylor
  • Kate Groombridge
  • Ivana Horvat

Other cover stories include:

  • “Paging Doctor Nookie?” – Grub Smith's educational live experiment
  • “Gee, Thanks Dad!” – feature examining inherited physical characteristics

The photography and bright orange/yellow presentation give the issue a very distinctive summer 2000 FHM aesthetic.

Bikini Heaven Feature

The photographed contents page confirms “Bikini Heaven” on page 152, described as a major feature bringing together six women photographed in sunny beach settings.

The photographs shown include Lisa Faulkner, while Kate Groombridge is also prominently pictured in the contents section.

One of the supplied photographs shows a large glossy beach image spread across multiple pages, with a model photographed in silhouette against a golden sunset. This forms part of the magazine's extensive summer glamour photography section and is a strong visual feature of this particular issue.

Aaliyah Feature

A particularly collectible element is the feature on Aaliyah, beginning on approximately page 118.

The photographed article opens with the headline:

“SHE'S THE ONE”

and presents Aaliyah in a full-length fashion portrait wearing a dark outfit with wide-leg trousers and chain detailing.

The contents page also prominently pictures Aaliyah and identifies her as the R&B artist behind hits including “Try Again.”

This makes the issue especially appealing to collectors of Aaliyah memorabilia, R&B history and early-2000s music magazines.

Other Features Shown

The photographed contents pages reveal a broad range of additional material, including:

  • How To Take Better Pictures – photography advice covering focusing, shutter speeds and reducing red-eye.
  • The Return of the Pirate – humorous feature.
  • “Have You Got A Sister?” – unusual human-interest feature.
  • One Small Shag For Mankind – Grub Smith feature.
  • “Thanks, Dad!” – genetics/inheritance-themed article.

  • The Jungle Plant Detective – exploration/adventure-style feature.
  • Summer Fashion – extensive seasonal menswear and womenswear photography.
  • FHM Confession

Cars, Film, Sport & Lifestyle

The magazine also includes substantial lifestyle material beyond the celebrity features.

Visible contents include:

  • Classic car coverage, including a Ferrari-style sports car pictured in the contents.
  • Movie poster collecting/features, with Steve McQueen / Bullitt material shown.
  • Micro-stereo / hi-fi equipment
  • Football imagery, including a photograph of a player holding the World Cup trophy
  • Regular FHM humour, confessions and reader stories.
  • Men's fashion and seasonal clothing features.

Altogether, this is a very typical large-format FHM from its peak circulation era, combining glamour photography with celebrity interviews, music, fashion, technology, cars, sport and humour.
