Original Max Power Magazine – April 2004, a superb period issue from the height of the UK modified-car scene, packed with extreme custom builds, performance tuning, Japanese cars, street-racing culture, show reports, ICE/audio, styling modifications and glamour photography.

This is a particularly strong issue for collectors of early-2000s modified-car culture, with the main cover feature devoted to an extreme UK-built Vauxhall Astra Coupe, plus Toyota Supra, Toyota Celica, Subaru Impreza, Renault Clio, Ford Fiesta, Honda/other Japanese performance cars and a major Tokyo Auto Salon report.

The cover also prominently features Victoria Silvstedt, whose name is clearly printed on the magazine.

Main Cover Feature – Ultimate Vauxhall Astra Coupe

The main feature is the dramatically modified blue and silver Vauxhall Astra Coupe, described on the cover as:

“ULTIMATE! Mentalist UK Astra boasts 22s, hydraulics and the phattest kit you'll see”

The contents confirm the feature begins on page 8.

The photographs show an extremely elaborate show-car conversion including:

  • Huge 22-inch wheels
  • Dramatic wide-body styling
  • Custom metal arches
  • Extremely low stance
  • Hydraulic suspension
  • Bespoke body kit
  • Custom side skirts
  • Extensive exterior modifications
  • Highly distinctive blue and silver finish

This is exactly the type of outrageous custom build that made Max Power so recognisable during the early 2000s.

Victoria Silvstedt Feature

The front cover clearly advertises:

“MAX EXCLUSIVE! Playboy Babe Victoria Silvstedt”

The contents page confirms Victoria Silvstedt appears in the issue, with her feature listed on page 26.

She is also prominently pictured within the magazine.

For collectors of period celebrity/model appearances, this is one of the strongest additional features in the issue.

Toyota Supra Features

The issue contains substantial Toyota Supra content.

The front cover advertises:

“MAX METAL – Carbon Supras – No way! Toyota threesome roll on 19s with full carbon bodies”

The contents list:

Carbon Supra Threesome – page 146

and the magazine also contains an additional Supra feature later in the issue.

The contents mention:

“Watch a twin-turbo Supra roast its 20in rubber.”

An excellent issue for Supra and Japanese performance-car collectors.

Toyota Celica

A Toyota Celica is also listed among the main features, with the contents describing it as:

“The turbo Celica you can win in a raffle. Beats hampers.”

The supplied images show numerous other modified Japanese cars throughout the contents pages.

Subaru Impreza

A modified Subaru Impreza is clearly shown among the featured cars within the magazine.

This issue therefore offers strong coverage for enthusiasts of classic Japanese tuning culture alongside the British and European builds.
