Original vintage Mayfair – Volume 15 No. 8, published by Fisk Publishing Co. Ltd., with an original UK cover price of 75p.

This issue is presented as a large summer-themed edition, with the cover headline:

“Hi, Summer! Sun, Sea & Surf Spectacular”

The front cover has a striking seaside/water photograph and advertises a broad mixture of model photography, humour, motoring, fiction and feature writing typical of Mayfair during this period.

The photographed contents page is especially useful because it confirms a substantial amount of the material inside.

Models / Featured Women

The contents page identifies the principal model features as:

  • Tina – beach-themed feature
  • Sally
  • Kim – presented as an art student
  • Jade
  • Beverley
  • Eileen

The issue therefore contains several separate model pictorials rather than concentrating on a single cover personality.

The visible contents descriptions show a mixture of beach, glamour, art-study and lifestyle-style shoots, giving the magazine a particularly strong summer/pictorial theme.

Magazine Contents

Beyond the model photography, this is a fairly substantial general-interest men’s magazine issue with several feature categories.

Special features include:

  • Death of a Jap Admiral – historical feature concerning Pearl Harbor
  • Browned-Off Locos – railway/industrial subject connected with Barry Island
  • That’s The Way – feature concerning expectant fatherhood
  • Carrie – water-skiing themed feature

Humour includes:

  • Horny Thoughts From Cowes
  • Gentlemen, That Reminds Me

Motoring:

  • A dedicated Chevrolet Corvette feature, described in the contents as the American sports car feature

Fiction:

  • Prize from the Ocean

Other editorial material:

  • films
  • records/discs
  • letters
  • back-number information
  • book society material
  • general reader services

The inside masthead identifies Kenneth Bound as editor, with additional editorial and production staff listed beneath the contents.

Condition

This is a pre-owned vintage magazine showing noticeable age and handling wear, but it appears complete and usable from the areas photographed.

Visible condition points include:

  • noticeable edge and corner wear to the front cover
  • rubbing and whitening along portions of the outer edges
  • small bends and creases around the corners
  • some light surface scratching and handling marks
  • upper edge shows minor waviness/creasing
  • lower-left front corner shows more noticeable rubbing
  • spine has general age-related rubbing and handling wear
  • front cover remains attached and presents reasonably well overall
  • internal contents page appears clean, bright and clearly readable
  • internal paper shows some expected age-related toning but no major staining is obvious in the photographed section
  • rear cover shows general surface wear, marks and edge rubbing
  • rear lower and outer corners have some bending and storage wear
  • magazine has a slight used/handled shape rather than lying perfectly flat
  • no obvious major writing or heavy ink markings are visible in the supplied photographs
  • no major missing sections are apparent from the images provided

Overall I would describe this as a good readable vintage copy with moderate cosmetic wear, rather than a mint or high-grade collector copy.

Please study all photographs carefully because they show the actual magazine being sold and form an important part of the condition description.

Postage & Packaging

The magazine will be packed carefully for dispatch. Depending on the finished parcel size, it will be protected using a sturdy cardboard box and/or suitable bubble wrap, with particular care taken around the corners, spine and cover edges to help protect the magazine from bending, crushing and general transit damage.
