Original NME Magazine / New Musical Express dated 9 March 1996, with Bruce Springsteen as the main front-cover feature.

The cover is dominated by a large portrait of Springsteen under the headline:

“Let’s go to work! BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN”

with the strapline:

“EXCLUSIVE! The Boss gets back to business”

This makes the issue particularly appealing to collectors of Bruce Springsteen, NME and 1990s rock memorabilia, while the rest of the cover gives it strong Britpop and alternative music crossover appeal.

A major headline across the top promotes:

“OASIS IN THE USA – FULL REPORT”

placing the issue firmly in the middle of Oasis’s mid-1990s international breakthrough period.

Other clearly advertised cover features include:

  • Supergrass – live coverage
  • Sepultura
  • Howie B
  • Pulp
  • The Afghan Whigs
  • Super Furry Animals
  • Bis
  • Underworld
  • Eric Matthews
  • Henry Rollins
  • Terrorvision
  • Father Ted

The cover therefore spans a broad mix of rock, Britpop, indie, electronic and alternative music, with a notable combination of Springsteen and major UK acts from 1996.

This is a strong period issue for collectors interested in Bruce Springsteen, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass, Super Furry Animals and the wider 1990s alternative scene.

Condition

Pre-owned vintage condition with visible age-related handling and storage wear.

The front cover shows noticeable creasing, wrinkling and surface waviness, especially along the left-hand side, lower edge and outer margins.

The left-hand edge/spine area has visible compression and wear, with some roughness and a few small creases along the fold.

The bottom edge shows more obvious handling wear, with light curling, unevenness and small bends along the paper edge.

The right-hand edge also appears slightly uneven and wavy, with light fraying consistent with the thin newspaper-style paper stock.

The corners are softened and lightly bent from storage and use.

There is some age-related toning/discolouration to the pale outer border areas, plus small marks and general surface wear.

The main cover image and printed text remain clear and readable.

No obvious major large tears, heavy staining or writing can be seen in the supplied photograph.

Condition assessment is based on the single supplied image, so the interior pages and back cover cannot be fully assessed.
