Original Select Magazine – June 1997, Issue No. 83, featuring Primal Scream as the main cover story. A strong original late-1990s UK music magazine covering indie, alternative, rock and electronic music at the height of the Britpop era.
The front cover is dominated by a colourful group photograph of Primal Scream, with the large headline “Exclusive! Primal Scream – Who’s going to stop them this time?”. The issue contains a substantial cover feature beginning on page 78, described in the contents as a world-exclusive interview surrounding the band’s new album and their change in musical direction.
Main Primal Scream Feature
The contents describe the Primal Scream article as covering their new album and another major stylistic shift, with discussion touching on the darker themes surrounding the group and their music. This makes the issue particularly interesting to collectors of Primal Scream material from the Vanishing Point period.
The magazine dates from an especially important point in the band’s career, and the cover itself is a striking piece of contemporary 1997 music-magazine design.
